Attendance Awareness, Hispanic Heritage Celebration, Hiring and Employment Opportunities
Three Things:
- September is Attendance Awareness Month because school attendance matters!
- 2nd annual Hispanic Heritage Festival hosted by Tulsa Public Schools – Saturday, 9/23
- Make a difference – refer someone to work at Tulsa Public Schools
September is Attendance Awareness Month! Did you know that students can still fall behind even if they miss school just a day or two every few weeks? Attendance matters! As we start the school year, it is important to set regular bed-time and morning routines and make sure to have a back-up plan for getting your child to school. Every day of learning counts, and we want your child in class – on time – every day. If you need help with your child’s attendance, contact your child’s school.
Here’s how you can support your child’s attendance:
- Set a regular bedtime and morning routine;
- Get clothes ready and pack backpacks the night before;
- Develop backup plans for getting to school if you are unable to take your child;
- Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session; and
- Talk to teachers or the school counselor if your child seems anxious about going to school.
Visit www.tulsaschools.org/attendance for more information about building good attendance habits.
